Mobile Festival Phoenix

Last weekend I attended a mobile festival in Phoenix.  It was a day well spent with some very interesting presentations and a good chance to network with other likeminded developers in the Phoenix area.

I enjoyed learning about some of the mobile projects going on in the area, along with sharing thoughts on the current state of mobility and a brain storming session on the topic of mobility in the future.  The thoughts and talents of the people I met and shared with show me that there are many in the area who are serious about their work and taking the mobile aspect of computing into the future.

One of the interesting things discussed was how to promote mobile software in the day and age of app stores which have a very limited view into the many thousands of applications available on the services.  The commonly referenced method of addressing this was social networking.  Using your network to promote the topic of your choice, starting groups, discussions, uploading usage videos and more.  This event is another example of a way to promote mobile and build on the existing growth.

The Moblin project was discussed and demonstrated to the group.  If you would like to check out the mobile trends as demonstrated via Moblin, this link takes you to a newly posted video that shows a sample of the Moblin v2 UI in action.  Check it out, it’s fun to see the future of mobility evolve.

I look forward to continued community interaction and sharing of thoughts and work in the mobile realm.
