Sample 2 – RemoteControl

Sample Code!

Before I started "Working with Intel AMT," the first thing I wanted to learn was how to turn a computer on and off. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, not really.

The RemoteControl sample provided in the SDK wasn&apost very easy to understand. It took me awhile just to figure out how to run it with the correct command-line arguments! When I did get it running, I noticed that it provided a lot more functionality than I actually needed. I didn&apost need to set boot options, I just wanted to shut the computer off! Trying to understand 1016 lines of code (I&aposm not exaggerating) wasn&apost fun either.

So here&aposs my version of the RemoteControl sample. You&aposll see a lot of the same concepts discussed in one of my recent blog posts (Get function, GetEndpointReference function, etc). You&aposll also see how the Invoke function works. The sample provides nowhere near as much functionality as the original, but it&aposs a lot easier to understand. Remember to check for updates reguarly and leave a comment in that box down there.
