Stobart Group Deploys Riverbed to Enable Private Cloud Initiative
Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, today announced that Stobart Group, a UK provider of multimodal transport and logistics solutions, has selected and deployed 14 Riverbed Steelhead appliances and the Central Management Console (CMC) across its UK operations. As a result, time taken to access files has dropped by 60 percent and bandwidth utilization has been reduced three-fold, from 90 percent to 30 percent. These results have allowed Stobart Group to build a private cloud, consolidating data from six business units into one centralized location and removing 30 local servers, while avoiding a costly bandwidth upgrade and improving employee collaboration and productivity. Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the IT performance company, announced today the company is expanding its position within the Microsoft Server Virtualization Validation Program (SVVP) by obtaining validation of its Riverbed Steelhead appliance to run Windows Server 2008 R2. Riverbed is the first WAN optimization vendor to obtain SVVP validation for Windows Server 2008 R2. With the combination of Windows Server 2008 R2 infrastructure services and the Riverbed Steelhead appliances, mutual customers can simplify their branch office infrastructure, while at the same time ensuring application performance for end users.
