Windows 7 RTM Next Week
It seems we are rapidly approaching the RTM date for Windows 7 and you&aposll soon be able to download the RTM code from MSDN or TechNet subscriber downloads. It is expected that Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 will both be released to manufacturing next Monday, July 13th 2009.
Microsoft is currently selling the upgrades for Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professionalfor only $49.00 and $99.00 respectfully although these offers are limited and have already sold out in Japan!!!
Unfortunately there are only discounts available for the Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional versions, so if you&aposre interested in the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade then you&aposll have to pay the full price of $219.00.
If you do decide to purchase one of the discounted upgrades and you&aposre in the United States then be aware that you only have until July 11th, this coming Saturday, to do so!!!
It has been almost ten months since Microsoft demonstrated a build of Windows 7at the PDC and I have been running the new operating system almost exclusively since that time. It outperforms both Windows XP and Windows Vista on PC&aposs designed for those operating systems, and so it will be interesting to see if and when people with those machines choose to upgrade.
We&aposre at T minus seven days to the RTM of Windows 7, I&aposve got my copy ordered … what about you?
